Morgan Stanley recommends going long on USA Treasuries, betting they will outperform inflation-protected Bonds.
Morgan Stanley strategists advise clients to short 10-year Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) and buy 10-year US Treasuries, aiming to profit from cooling inflation and a potential reversal of the breakeven rate. Strategists like Aryaman Singh suggest betting that the 10-year breakeven inflation rate will drop from the current level of around 2.4% to 2.15%, with a stop-loss target set at 2.5%. The strategists wrote in their report that the breakeven inflation rate has widened too much relative to nominal Treasury yields and that the timing for a reversal is ripe if US Treasury yields decline. As inflation cools, they expect a rapid decline in Treasury yields.
