Shell (SHEL.US) and Norway's equinor have jointly created the largest independent oil company in the united kingdom.
Oil giants Shell (SHEL.US) and Norway's state oil company equinor announced on Thursday plans to merge their assets in the united kingdom's offshore oil & gas sector, creating a joint venture energy company. This joint venture will be established in Scotland to maintain the united kingdom's fossil fuel production and energy supply security. The two companies plan to complete the trade by the end of next year after obtaining approval. Shell stated that the merged company will become the largest independent producer in the united kingdom's North Sea at that time. It is expected that the joint venture will produce more than 140,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2025.
